DESCRIPTION: I created this painting because I wanted to show what it would like if you could see through my surface and directly into my spirit when I am going through a period of depression. I have always been attracted to and drawn towards the idea of intimacy. I believe intimacy occurs when we allow another person to see beyond our self defense mechanisms and into our true sense of self at any given particular moment. We spend much time over this life projecting the image we want others to see when they look at us. It’s a rare and beautiful connection when we are able to invite others into our confusion, sadness, and doubt. I believe that when we allow others to see our raw truths, knowing that they still find us beautiful after recognizing our pain, is when we have experienced the most powerful of spiritual connections with another human being.
