DESCRIPTION: I created this shot for a rap artist’s E.P.K. (Electronic Press Kit). Swagki Delee was a female rap artist from Syracuse NY. She was a hustler with a heart of gold who’s temper could flip the switch at any moment. She feared nothing. She was completely independent and music was her life. I wanted to create a photo that showed her independence and fearlessness. She was all over the city and all throughout the night, almost all of the time. I wanted to shoot a photo of her that conveyed her Nightlife hustle and wanted it to look natural. I used the existing light from the parking garage instead of using a flash or lighting rig. Swagki was as introspective as she was extroverted, and I wanted to capture that side of her as well. I gave her little direction in this pose, and shot her as she was naturally. She was amazing to work with and she had me laughing and ducking down at different parts of the evening.
